    While visiting Madras in 1919, the Nobel laureate stayed at the residence of Justice T. Muthuswamy Iyer, the first Indian to serve as a judge of the Madras High Court during the British period. In 2005, the descendants of Iyer sold the house to S.H. Mohideen  and his family, which chose to retain its historic name as a matter of pride
